The book was developed to bring specialty information written by specialists in language and pictures for the general public. It contains 118 pages with 180 illustrations.
Section I starts with common spinal conditions: herniated nucleus pulposus (aka slipped disc), degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and scoliosis are beautifully illustrated and the conditions fully explained describing the problem, the expected symptoms, conservative treatments, and surgical treatments in language written for the general public. Emphasis is placed upon prevention.
Section II covers medical evaluations necessary for a patient undergoing safe spinal surgery. Section III takes you into spinal surgery, showing the monitoring devices, anesthetic techniques, operative instruments and tables, surgical instruments and surgical techniques in use. Section IV presents case reports of patients displayed undergoing various spinal procedures.
Section V covers a comprehensive dictionary of bloodless terminology with extensive use of digital images, illustrations and key references.
