Overview of Planning Process
The strategic planning initiative was initiated with a survey distributed to members of the Board of the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management® (SABM®). A strategic planning session was held on November 15, 2003 in Philadelphia, PA with members of the Board to discuss the results of this survey as well as input from the Associate Membership Council. During this planning session, a draft Core Ideology and Envisioned Future for SABM, as well as preliminary shorter-range goals, were developed. Available members of the Executive Committee then met by conference call on December 29, 2003 to review and refine the Core Purpose, Core Values, Envisioned Future and goals. The strategic plan covers short-term goals as well as long-term goals, all of which are important to the growth of SABM.
