Research Initiatives
In July 2004, SABM held two consensus development conferences. The first was on the management of anemia in the elective surgery patient held July 9-10, 2004. The second, in collaboration with the University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC), was on the use of recombinant human factor VIIa (rVIIa) in non-approved clinical settings and was held July 16-18, 2004. The majority of the participants of each conference were members of the Society. Both of these articles were published during 2005. The authors feel that the recommendations made in these articles will ultimately improve patient outcomes.
