Course Goal

The principal goal of this course is to educate attendees in blood management, which includes the better use of blood products, blood conservation and transfusion alternatives in everyday clinical practice using evidence based and/or consensual approach.

Learning Objectives
  • Explain the components that are necessary for establishing a blood management/conservation program.
  • Identity several transfusion-free modalities in the treatment of trauma patients.
  • Name the issues related to plasma and blood conservation.
  • List the transfusion triggers related to ischemic heart disease.
  • Recognize the risks associated with blood transfusions.
