Message from the President
As SABM prepares for its third Symposium, we are very excited about the progress the organization has made over the last year.
Enclosed you will find the conference agenda. I think you will agree that our Symposium 2004 Scientific and Planning committees have done an excellent job bringing together the leaders in the field of blood management. We must thank them for their hard work. The SABM Symposium 2004 is aimed at providing members and nonmembers education regarding blood management and the importance it plays in patient care.
As an organization, we continue to explore new ways to increase education and knowledge about blood management. One way the leadership felt this could be achieved is by developing and continuing to work on a strategic plan that will build the organization’s foundations. Our core purpose, identified during the strategy creation, is to improve patient outcomes through optimal blood management. This will be done through expanding the knowledge of our multidisciplinary and multiprofessional colleagues who deal with blood management. This Symposium is one of our strongest efforts to meet this challenge.
Enjoy the conference and join us as we move toward becoming the recognized source in blood management. SABM’s future is based on the dedication of blood management professionals like yourself.

Lawrence Tim Goodnough, MD
President
