Steven Hill, MDAfter completion of undergraduate studies at Duke University (B.S. 1982) and medical school at Vanderbilt University (M.D. 1986), Steven Hill, MD, obtained Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine at the Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii. He then completed two years of fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, California and at the University of Utah Affiliated Hospitals in Salt Lake City, Utah. Additional residency training in Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center was undertaken following completion of his military service in the U.S. Army. He is currently an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology in the Division of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Duke University.
Dr. Hill is also the Medical Director of Duke University’s Center for Blood Conservation where he plans to utilize Duke’s extensive clinical research infrastructure to help delineate optimal blood conservation techniques and develop safe and effective alternatives to allogeneic red blood cell transfusion. Research interests include outcome analysis of cardiothoracic surgical patients as well as oxygen therapeutic research and clinical trials of blood management strategies.
Serving as Co-Director of Duke University’s Acute Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit provides an opportunity to continue cardiac surgical outcomes research as part of the Clinical Anesthesiology Research Endeavors (CARE) Group. He is currently a member of the SABM Annual Meeting Planning Committee.
